I was talking with a friend this week, and she asked me what trope ties in all of my books. Drumroll please! It’s OTHER WOMAN DRAMA! Now, I know some readers hate this trope, but I freaking love getting jealous when I’m reading romance. Is that weird? Maybe. Do I care? Nope! This scene from Stealing Hearts makes readers on Tiktok loose their marbles. I should note this is a marriage of convenience, and at this point, although Rhett and Paige are on their ad hoc honeymoon, they’ve only been back in each other’s lives for about a week. Does this scene make you rage too? ducks behind the couch
In the distance, I hear a chime.

Focus, Paige.
But then he lets out a curse. “I need to get that.”
Stunned, I watch him gently push me back. He gets up, roots around in his jeans, and pulls out his phone.
He did not just pull me off his dick to take a phone call.
“This better be important,” he says as he’s standing there with his hard dick that looks like it’s ready to come again. After a few seconds, he curses again. “I’ll be there in twenty. Tell her to calm her ass down.”
Next thing I know, he’s shoving on his clothes. “I’m sorry, Paige, but I need to run.”
What? He’s leaving?
Sinking into the water, I fight like hell not to show the disappointment crashing over me. “What’s going on?”
“It’s Amber. She heard we got married, and she’s at the ranch, causing a scene and freaking out the kids.”
I hate that woman. “Okay. Um. Hand me my clothes. I’ll pack up our stuff, and—”
“No. I’ll go. There’s no reason you can’t enjoy the cabin. I’ll be back tomorrow to pick you up.”
Just like that, our “honeymoon” is over.
My throat tightens as I watch him walk away. This is why I have to guard my heart.
But can I guard it for six more months?
